Smart cities ( Introduction )

Smart Cities  Smart   cities  use technology to increase operational efficiency and share information with people to improve and develop both the quality of governmental services and the well-being of people. Intelligent cities began as far back as the 1960s and 1970s. The idea behind a smart city is to design and construct a better eco-friendly city for citizens and residents. There are two main aims of intelligent cities: to provide a clean and suitable environment and to ensure a good enough quality of life for the city's citizens and residents. The success of smart cities depends on the country's development in technology. Some features that can make a city (SMART) are online services, technological development, a suitable environment, and secure public places. The development of the smart city is based on a bright environment, smart living, well-educated people, and an innovative economy. Reference  -  City Transport & Traffic Innovation News (no...

Computer Ethics

Computer Ethics  Computer ethics are the set of commonly agreed principles that govern the use of computers. Like ethics more generally, computer ethics is essentially a set of philosophical guidelines or moral standards that aim to influence behaviour and prevent harm.  Commandment 2  Thou shalt not interfere with other people's computer work:  Computer software can be used to disturb other users or their work.  Simply put: Do not use computer technology to cause interference in other users' work. Simply put: Do not use computer technology to cause interference in other users' work. Explanation: Computer software can be used in ways that disturb other users or disrupt their work. Viruses, for example, are programs meant to harm helpful computer programs or interfere with the normal functioning of a computer. Malicious software can disrupt the functioning of computers in more ways than one. It may overload computer memory through excessive consu...

Major Project Theme

Smart Cities  - A smart city is a municipality that uses information and communication technologies (ICT) to increase operational efficiency, share information with the public, and improve the quality of government services and citizen welfare.     The main aim of smart cities is to provide a clean and sustainable environment and give people a decent quality of life.  Some features make a city (SMART):  - Suitable and clean environment  - Technological Development - Secure Public Places  An example of a smart city is (NOEM).NOEM is planned to incorporate innovative city technologies and will be a tourist distention. It also provides a suitable environment for citizens and residents and privacy.                                                      Reference - Shea, S. and Burns, E. Initial idea 2 : Computer architecture

Computer architecture  Computer architecture is the organization of the components which make up a computer system and the meaning of the operations which guide its function. Computer Architecture can be divided into mainly three categories, which are as follows − ·         Instruction set Architecture or ISA  − Whenever an instruction is given to the processor, its role is to read and act accordingly. It allocates memory to instructions and also acts upon memory address mode (Direct Addressing mode or Indirect Addressing mode). ·         Micro Architecture  − It describes how a particular processor will handle and implement instructions from ISA. ·         System design  − It includes the other entire hardware component within the system such as virtualization and multiprocessing.     Reference  -  19, A.L.on M. Initial idea 1 Operating Systems and Networks

Operating Systems and Networks A network operating system(NOS) is software that connects multiple devices and computers on the network and allows them to share resources on the network. True network operating systems are categorized as software that enhances the functionality of operating systems by providing added network features. There are two basic types of network operating systems, peer-to-peer  NOS and client/serve NOS. 1. Peer-to-peer network operating systems allow users to share network resources saved in a common, accessible network location. In this architecture, all devices are treated equally in terms of functionality. Peer-to-peer usually works best for small to medium LANs and is cheaper to set up. 2. Client/server network operating systems provide users with access to resources through a server. In this architecture, all functions and applications are unified under one file server that can be used to execute individual client actions regardless of physical location...

Software/Hardware Skills

Software and Hardware Skills  My software skills are vital because some of them I learned back in school, and some of them I learned at home. I have used PowerPoint to make my presentation, Word to submit my school homework, and other applications. I was very interested in programming; therefore, I entered a programming course in which I learned the basics of programming. De Montfort University uses the blackboard; therefore, students can access it to do their assignments and contact their supervisors. Hardware is any part of the computer that we can touch. I have used the printer to print out some pictures and assignments. Furthermore, I use the keyboard to type what I want to search for, or I use it to write.   HP laptops are most likely used at De Montfort University because yo...

Welcome Post

Hello,                                                  Welcome to my first Blog  Hi, I'm Albandari! Foundation year student. Welcome to my first Computer Skills Blog. The purpose of this blog is to learn new skills in computing.  I am from Saudi Arabia. Studying abroad has been one of my dreams, and finally, after finishing high school, I applied to many universities, including De Montfort University. It was a very great experience studying at DMU. I usually spend my free time reading books or learning new skills. Recently I have been interested in exploring different new places as they help me explore new cultures worldwide. Computing is part of everything we do. My interest in computing started from an early age when I read a book about computing and technology.

Introduction Post

I chose De Montfort University (DMU) because it is one of the best universities in the United Kingdom (UK) in the computing field, and my parents graduated from DMU. My course title is Computer Science. I have yet to start my course because I am an international student. After graduating with my bachelor's degree in computer science, I aim to complete my other degrees or find a job with a higher position. The module that I am interested in is Computer programming. The mandatory modules are Computer Programming, software development, and the fundamental concept of computer science. The optional modules include advanced web development privacy, data protection, and functional programming. After ten years, I see myself in a job with a higher position and with a higher income. DMU sparked me with many things; for example, meeting people from different nationalities affording many student opportunities. Reference  -  OYA School et al. (2018) Oya School , OYA School .
